Our mission
Working in partnership to improve the health and wellbeing of children through clinical care, research, education and advocacy.
Our network
Welcome to The Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network (SCHN), the largest network of hospital and healthcare services for children in Australia. SCHN comprises of two teaching hospitals - The Children’s Hospital at Westmead (CHW) and the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick (SCH). SCHN also includes Bear Cottage, a specialist hospice for children with life-limiting conditions, NSW Newborn and paediatric Emergency Transport Service (NETS), NSW Pregnancy and Newborn Services Network (PSN), and the Children’s Court Clinic, all of which provide care to our children and families as well as teaching and learning experiences for our staff.
Our commitment to learning and teaching
At SCHN, we recognise that continuous learning is crucial for providing the highest quality care to the children and families we serve. We are dedicated to upskilling our interdisciplinary teams through professional and vocational training, ensuring that they possess the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to deliver exceptional care. Our aim is to make our teams more adaptable, equipping them to thrive within the ever-evolving models of care.
At the forefront of our educational efforts is the SCHN Education and Training Services team. This dedicated team facilitates a wide range of learning opportunities including continuing professional development courses, seminars and workshops, and ensures mandatory training compliance for more than 8,000 clinical and non-clinical staff across the SCHN. The team comprises of experts in clinical and non-clinical education curriculum design, assessment, and evaluation. We are equipped with state-of-the-art simulation centres at our Westmead and Randwick precincts, a modern library offering support across the SCHN, and cutting-edge audio-visual, photography, e-learning, and IT resources.
Committed to providing world-class healthcare and supporting best practices in paediatric healthcare within NSW and beyond, we actively collaborate with external education and training providers, local health districts, and key pillars of NSW Health. This ensures that training reflects current evidence and effectively addresses real-world challenges commonly encountered by the healthcare professional.
